When you’ve been around for more than 23 years, you develop a lot of traditions. Some strange. Some a bit quirky. But all definitely creative. And halloween is the perfect time to showcase our agency’s creative side while giving a nod to the industry we serve … food brands. It’s also a wonderful time to honor a few of our client brands as well. Happy halloween and remember, the only thing scary about this day? When food brands don’t work with RMD.
Donn’s passion for food began while growing up in the culturally diverse city of Detroit. Experiencing the wonderful flavors of the city taught him that there’s more to life than the same old same old. Today, Donn takes that same approach with the creative direction of the agency.
Each week, RMD Advertising honors a team member with the Mojo Award. This “prestigious” award is presented to a person who has gone beyond the task at hand – it could be uncovering a solution to a client issue or a simple gesture toward another team member in need. The Mojo Award is given during our Friday morning team meeting (yes, we call this meeting Mojo).
This week we raise a cup of joe to Jason for alleviating a team members’ stress by finding a way around a missing file. Ahhh, the power of Mojo. A big attitude of gratitude goes out to Jason for a being a great member of our team. This is something RMD Advertising is proud to be built upon.

1952 was a simpler time … the movie Singin’ in the Rain was a hit, unemployment was at just 3% … and according to Veg-All Mixed Vegetables, mom’s were looking for quick recipes to make for their on-the-go families.
Say it isn’t so … I thought it was the busy soccer mom of the 1990’s who invented the concept of the family rat race. Ahhh, but nostalgic food advertising doesn’t lie.
Even today, food (and the consumers who indulge in it for sport or nourishment) is ever changing. And, gaining market share or share of stomach amidst changes requires three things:
1. Know what’s in and what’s out. Gluten-free is here to stay … but is sugar? Maybe not.
2. Innovation. Developing new products — and new ideas to bring those products to dinner tables everywhere — have to be reinvented daily. As consumers’ lives changes at a record pace, so does their circle of influence.
3. Inspire. As the ad states, more women cook with Veg-All than any other brand. In the 50’s, I’m sure their inspiration was to be the best they could be — an inspiration that I’M sure made their men very happy.
Lessons from the running road … so true. One of the reasons we love running at RMD is that it gives us time together to challenge ourselves and have fun at the same time. The other reason? Running is a great metaphor for life.
It sounds simple, but some of the best ideas come from having fun and not thinking about the creative block standing in your way.
That’s why RMD has an air hockey table in the office among other toys. What better way to come up with new ideas than a quick game to 10? The sounds of the fan blowing and the puck off the walls just might spark that next big idea!
